The UWCFD encourages community-based support, civic engagement, and advocacy by and for Latinx people in pursuit of fair representation and equal economic and educational opportunity. We intentionally use the term Latinx to signal our solidarity with historically oppressed groups.

Support/Learn/Engage

CASA Latina empowers Latino immigrants through educational and economic opportunities, including day labor employment, English language classes, workplace safety and job skills trainings, leadership development, and community organizing around issues of public policy that affect immigrant workers. Casa Latina’s vision is that the Latino community participates fully in the economy and democracy of this country.

Catholic Community Services- Columbia River designs and provides vital services in English and Spanish to the poor and most vulnerable people of four counties in southwestern communities of Washington.

Centro Latino Ser – Jobs for Progress provides broad array of human/social services to low-income, disadvantaged Hispanic and other needy populations. Focuses on education, job skills development, and family services. English/Spanish spoken.

CIELO offers intensive, interactive family support and educational services that help the Latino community achieve social empowerment. We provide services for adult learners families and establish trusting relationships that help the Latino community.

Consejo Counseling and Referral Service Award winning, Latino focused, multi-service agency whose services transform, strengthen, and empower. Core programs: Mental Health, Domestic Violence/ Sexual Assault, Youth Families, Substance Abuse, Transitional Housing.

El Centro De La Raza: Grounded in the Latino community, our mission is to build unity across all racial and economic sectors, to organize, empower, and defend our most vulnerable and marginalized populations and to bring justice, dignity, equality, and freedom to all the peoples of the world.

Entre Hermanos Works to improve the health and well-being of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Latino/a community in a safe and culturally appropriate environment.

Hispanic Academic Achievers Program HAAP provides a springboard for Hispanic students their families to strive for a better life through education. Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors from Benton Franklin Counties, a recognition event for 4th-12th grade w/ 3.0 or better

Hispanic Roundtable The Hispanic Roundtable serves as a support system for educational access and the social needs of Latinos.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund HSF is the nation’s leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education. HSF’s vision: to strengthen the country by advancing college education among Hispanic Americans.

Hispanics In Philanthropy HIP invests in Latino leaders and communities nationwide to build a more prosperous and vibrant America. Our programs include: health, education, aging, men and boys, and arts.

Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund MALDEF promotes and protects the civil rights of Latinos in the areas of Education, Employment, Immigrant Rights, Political Access and administers scholarships for Law students. MALDEF is the nations leading Latino civil rights organization.

UnidosUS  (previously known as National Council of La Raza)NCLR is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States that works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans.

Sueños Sin Fronteras de Tejas is a Texas-based, Latinx, and womxn-led collective focused on addressing the health and healing needs of migrant/refugee women and children arriving from the U.S.-Mexico border. SSFTX was initially founded in June of 2018 in the height of family separations at the border. In the past year, SSFTX has provided direct relief, support, and resources to approximately 30,000 migrant/refugee adults and children at the border and in transit through San Antonio, Texas

Viva Hispanic Foundation NW provides educational support and opportunities, conducts programs aimed at empowering the Hispanic and other minority communities in the State of Washington.

Community Organizations and Resources

UW Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center is part of the UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity. The Kelly ECC has a wealth of resources and opportunities available to students including student advising, organizational development, personal growth, and referrals to different departments and programs. The ECC values diversity, equity, and inclusion of all communities, including underrepresented and first-generation students of color. We strive to be a safe and welcoming space for all.
