Empowering Women
The UW Combined Fund Drive celebrates women’s numerous accomplishments, seen and unseen, stands in solidarity with all women, and affirms their importance and multi-dimensional role in society.
Half of the United States, and world, population are women. Yet, women are afforded less economic opportunity and often absent from decision making and leadership. While strides have been made and we greatly appreciate the women who paved the way, we are charged with continuing the fight for equality and equity.
Many studies have shown that when women thrive and are supported the entire community does better. At the UW Combined Fund Drive, we stand with, support, and celebrate all women.

ANEW: Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Employment for Women (Charity Code: 1479893): The mission of ANEW is to prepare women to enter and progress in the building trades by providing outreach, recruitment education, and retention services.
API Chaya (Charity Code: 0320806): API Chaya envision a community free from violence. The mission of the Asian and Pacific Islander Women and Family Safety Center is to organize communities, educate, train, and provide technical assistance and comprehensive culturally relevant services.
Black Women’s Health Imperative (Charity Code: 1482760): BWHI is a national nonprofit founded on the campus of Spelman college in 1983 as the only national organization dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the nation’s 21 million black women and girls physically, emotionally and financially.
Dignity for Divas (Charity Code: 1482940): Dignity for Divas supports women across the Puget Sound transition out of homelessness through the use of a self-care platform that creates pathways to success.
Dress For Success Worldwide (Charity Code: 0456936): Dress for Success is an international non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of women through professional attire, career development, and employment retention programs.
End Violence Against Women (EVAW International) (Charity Code: 1478206): End Violence Against Women EVAW International provides effective, victim-centered, multidisciplinary training and expert consultation regarding crimes of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Freedom Education Project Puget Sound (Charity Code: 1482384): Freedom Education Project Puget Sound provides a rigorous college program to incarcerated women in Washington and creates pathways to higher education after women are released from prison. Our goals are to increase women prisoners’ economic and personal empowerment, contribute to family stability and reduce recidivism through college education.
Girl Scouts of Western Washington (Charity Code: King County – 0315196, Snohomish County – 0315440): Leadership development program for girls 5-17, helping them develop courage, confidence and character through diverse activities including camping, financial literacy, nature study and community service.
IGNITE Worldwide (Charity Code: 1481065) :IGNITE dismantles the myths and stereotypes girls have about technology careers by connecting them with women technology professionals. IGNITE’s unique model works within the schools, with active involvement by the Career and Technical Education teachers. The IGNITE model is scalable and reproducible, with a written set of tools that can be used in starting and administering the program in any school.
International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) (Charity Code: 1481537): Create a brighter, more equitable future for women and girls. ICRW empowers women, advances gender equality and fights poverty through research, capacity building and advocacy.
The Justice for Girls Coalition of Washington State (Charity Code: 1482829): The Justice for Girls* Coalition builds public will and community investment in innovation policies and practices that impact girls in Washington state.
* “Girls” refers to gender expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth).
League of Women Voters of Washington (Charity Code: 1480788): The LWVWA Education Fund helps strengthen the public’s knowledge of government in Washington state through nonpartisan educational projects that help people understand public policy issues and become informed, active participants in their communities.
Mary’s Place Seattle (Charity Code: 1481713): Empowering homeless women, children and families to reclaim their lives by providing shelter, nourishment, resources, healing and hope in a safe community.
Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (Charity Code: 0316032): Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest PPGNW is a not-for-profit family planning agency that provides high-quality, affordable reproductive health care for women, men and teens in 29 counties in Alaska, Idaho and western Washington.

Choose to Challenge: International Women’s Day 2021
The UW has a great resource on campus, the UW Alene Moris Women’s Center. They are catalysts for change, disruptors of cycles of oppression, and breakers of gender-based barriers through transformational education programs, leadership development, and advocacy for girls and women.
Disability Advocacy
We seek to promote and protect the human rights of people with disability.
Support
Disability Rights Washington is a private non-profit organization that protects the rights of people with disabilities statewide. Our mission is to advance the dignity, equality, and self-determination of people with disabilities. We work to pursue justice on matters related to human and legal rights.
Summit Assistance Dogs is a nonprofit organization that creates life-changing partnerships by providing highly-skilled mobility-assistance dogs for people living with disabilities, giving them increased independence and renewed confidence.
Homage Senior Services is the largest provider of critical services for seniors and people with disabilities in Snohomish County. Through 28 programs in food and nutrition, health and wellness, social services, home repair, and transportation, 28,000 people are served annually.
Sound Generations: Established in 1967, Sound Generations is a comprehensive non-profit organization that serves older adults and adults with disabilities in King County, supporting almost 54,000 people annually. Our organization is Washington State’s largest provider of comprehensive services for aging adults and their loved ones located in King County.
Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Center Foundation: SCH’s mission is to ensure delivery of quality pediatric care for all children through primary and subspecialty networks, strong education and teaching programs, a diverse workforce, nationally recognized research and child advocacy.

We reject discriminatory practices against individuals based on their age and work to build and maintain a healthy workplace culture.
Support/Learn/Engage
Ageism: is a comprehensive informational and educational resource that guides individuals towards an overall understanding of the effects of ageism and age discrimination in society.
Sound Generations: Established in 1967, Sound Generations is a comprehensive non-profit organization that serves older adults and adults with disabilities in King County, supporting almost 54,000 people annually. Our organization is Washington State’s largest provider of comprehensive services for aging adults and their loved ones located in King County.
University of Washington Retirement Association (UWRA) informs, connects and advocates for UW retirees and pre-retirees. The UWRA encourages continued engagement with the UW and fosters a purposeful retirement through educational and social programs.

Pike Place Market Foundation raises funds to purchase food, childcare, medical care and housing services for the low-income and elderly people of the Pike Place Market neighborhood.
Senior Services of Island County programs serve elderly, disabled and low-income citizens. Services include congregate and home-delivered meals, transportation, housing, adult daycare, information and assistance, employment and senior activities.
