Get involved with the UW community
Whether you want to make new friends or make an impact, opportunities to connect to the UW community take many forms. The list below isn’t comprehensive, but is a great place to start in finding meaningful connections, building your network and making a difference at UW.
The Whole U ambassadors & social groups: The Whole U fosters community through social groups and through an active community of ambassadors who encourage participation within their department and help to adapt Whole U offerings to best fit the culture of their workplace.
UW Combined Fund Drive coordinators & events: Want to make a difference? The UW Combined Fund Drive provides one-time events to learn and volunteer with non-profit organizations. Each year, the campaign relies on an army of volunteer coordinators to make the UW campaign the most successful workplace giving campaign within Washington State.
Professional Staff Organization (PSO) membership & board positions: While all professional staff are considered members of the PSO, get involved to help the organization effectively advocate for the issues and concerns of professional staff within our campus and local communities. Looking for a leadership position? Volunteer for a committee or run for a board position.
UW affinity groups: Affinity groups have been an important part of the UW community for many years, fostering connections and celebrating diversity:
- Asian & Pacific Islander American Association
- Black Association
- Queer Association
- Latinx Association
- Native Association
UW Athletics: Cheer on the Huskies at games, matches and tournaments with special employee discounts, seating and more.
UW Farms: Have a green thumb? Need some fresh air? Volunteer at one of three UW Farm locations to harvest, pack, weed or seed alongside other UW community members.
