BASIC FUNCTION

Lead others and coordinate the operation, scheduling of and/or routine maintenance of TV/video equipment, materials, and facilities, and/or the production of TV/video materials/programs.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others; Positions in perform a variety of activities in TV/video services including the preparation of graphics, props, and staging for TV/video productions, classroom operations, studio technical production activities and/or routine maintenance.

TYPICAL WORK

Lead the work of others; coordinate taping of video-tape productions; set up and perform TV/video playbacks, recordings, dubbing, editing, and associated tasks; coordinate the development of scheduling and delivery systems for TV/video equipment and materials;

Train faculty, staff, and students in academic departments on operation of TV/video cameras, video-tape recorders, and audio equipment; advise on lighting requirements and simple production and techniques;

Instruct and direct technicians in the operation and routine maintenance of equipment, lighting, and staging and aid in scheduling crew members; perform minor construction and rigging jobs necessary to production set ups; participate in staffing and rehearsal of scripts and productions;

Operate TV/video studio and control room equipment and common specialized test equipment such as oscilloscopes and vectorscopes necessary to ensure adequate operation; coordinate preventative maintenance of TV/video equipment and systems;

May act as floor director in TV/video recording sessions, live presentations, and filming sessions;

May travel to the field as part of a team to make or present productions;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduation or equivalent AND three years of experience in electronics, TV/video operations, or production, including one year as a TV/Video Equipment Operator II, or equivalent

equivalent education/experience.
