CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Operate and load trucks and vans in the transfer and delivery of freight items, warehouse supplies, building furnishings, refuse, construction materials or recyclable materials. Transport and assist passengers as required.
BASIC FUNCTION
Drive small trucks and vans; transfer and deliver freight items, warehouse supplies, building furnishings, and construction materials; load and unload vehicle.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, operate a motor vehicle up to and including one ton capacity, or light passenger vehicles (25 persons or less).
TYPICAL WORK
Regularly drive small vehicles such as pickup trucks, panel truck or step vans, automobiles or small buses;
Pick up and deliver items such as athletic supplies, drapes, furniture, custodial supplies, laboratory equipment, printing stock, and parcel post;
Load and unload vehicle; transport freight to appropriate designation;
Make periodic deliveries and pickups from central wholesale warehouses or off-site vendor outlets;
Use specialized equipment incidental to the transport of supplies and equipment such as: dollies, hand trucks, and hydraulic lifts;
May transport and assist passengers getting on and off buses or vans;
May handle and transport hazardous materials;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
