BASIC FUNCTION

Provide advanced respiratory therapy to patients.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under direct supervision, receive orientation and training in patient care procedures.

TYPICAL WORK

Provide therapy as ordered by the physicians, such as chest physiotherapy, hyper-inflation, nebulization, oxygen therapy, monitoring of continuous artificial ventilation;

Deliver, setup, and maintain respiratory equipment on patients and give instructions on its proper use;

Initiate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques;

Perform the work of Respiratory Assistant;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of an accredited respiratory care therapy program approved by the State of Washington Department of Health

OR

equivalent education/experience.

Legal Requirement

Obtain licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Washington by passing the first available examination for licensure.
