BASIC FUNCTION
Serve as food service attendant aboard an ocean research vessel with a capacity for up to 60 crew and research personnel.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under direct supervision, perform routine and unskilled tasks related to the food service aboard an oceangoing vessel.
TYPICAL WORK
Serve as assistant to the cook and baker in food preparation;
Clean vegetables or do other duties of comparable simplicity;
Serve meals to ship’s crew and scientific party;
Stow and assist in inventorying provisions;
Clean and sanitize galley, messrooms and food storage spaces;
Perform related duties as required.
