BASIC FUNCTION
Coordinate and administer the operation of a comprehensive graphics design/illustration unit.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.
Coordinate design of major department or institutional graphics programs. Provide graphic design/illustration consultation service to clients.
TYPICAL WORK
Develop and implement policies and procedures for operation of unit; develop recommendations for operating budget and pricing structure;
Coordinate staff production with the associated graphic arts such as typesetting, printing, photography and/or audio-visual units;
Consult with faculty, staff and clients to determine the best use of resources for desired communications;
Recommend purchase of graphic, computer graphic and/or audio visual equipment;
Develop and ensure adherence to department or institution-wide design standards;
May perform duties of Graphic Designer/Illustrator Lead.
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in graphics design or related field AND three years of experience as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator, including one year of experience as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator Lead OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
