BASIC FUNCTION

Advise prospective and enrolled students about academic programs, admissions and transfer policies and procedures; make independent decisions to admit students and to award transfer credits.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Single class – no series. Make independent decisions to admit students to four-year higher education institutions; determine appropriate transfer credits; advise students and prospective students about enrollment, program and graduation requirements.

TYPICAL WORK

Advise prospective students about admission and degree requirements;

Visit community colleges to advise prospective students and college personnel regarding admission, academic programs and degree requirements;

Provide information about admission procedures and academic program requirements to the community, university departments and other educational institutions;

Perform necessary analysis of applications; determine admissibility of prospective students;

Determine appropriate credit hour transfer; determine course equivalency credits;

participate in training credential evaluator and/or clerical staff;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two years experience as a Credentials Evaluator II; OR two years of college and two years of experience in admissions, student advising or closely related area; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education.
