BASIC FUNCTION
Lead others and receive and disburse funds; record monetary transactions; verify daily records of receipts, consolidate cash receipts and deposits, maintain control records of receipts and disbursements; transfer funds; prepare and input data to computer.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others. Under general supervision, use established guidelines and exercise independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks such as receiving and disbursing funds, preparing receipts, making adjustments to funds; maintaining records, and preparing back deposits.
TYPICAL WORK
Verify, consolidate, and balance cash receipts, make and maintain reports and records of cash flow, prepare daily bank deposits;
Safeguard monies within assigned area of responsibility;
Make cash and accounting adjustments;
Compute fees and prepare computer input documents, or operate terminals as required in cashiering function;
Oversee maintenance, balancing, and replenishing of cashier change funds;
Perform the duties of Cashier II;
May forward funds to a central cashier office for deposit;
May assist with collection of bad checks;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduation or equivalent AND eighteen months of fiscally-related work such as bank teller or retail salesclerk
OR
equivalent education/experience.
