Perform laboratory tasks which support the operation of a clinical laboratory.

BASIC FUNCTION

Perform non-technical work in a clinical laboratory.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under direct supervision, perform non-technical laboratory tasks such as preparing culture media, compounds and reagents, sterilizing and stocking of lab materials, and maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory.

TYPICAL WORK

Prepare culture media according to established procedures including weighing and use of automatic dispensing devices;

Prepare compounds and reagents according to specified procedures;

Autoclave and sterilize laboratory materials, clean and sterilize glassware, code new glassware, and assist in maintaining a clean laboratory environment;

Perform clerical tasks such as filing;

Clean, check and replenish equipment and supplies from stock;

Assist in performing inventory and report laboratory supply needs;

Collect soiled laundry; receive and distribute clean laundry;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation

OR
equivalent education/experience.
