BASIC FUNCTION

Perform complex dental x-ray functions and assist in instructing dental students in x-ray techniques.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, perform complex dental x-ray procedures such as take extraoral radiographs and assist with sialography using fluoroscopic procedures; operate specialized dental x-ray equipment such as polytome tomograph, skull table and cephalostat; participate in quality control; and assist in instructing dental students in x-ray techniques.

TYPICAL WORK

Take routine and complex dental x-rays such as extraoral radiographs;

Assist with sialography;

Operate equipment including polytome tomograph, skull table and cephalostat;

Participate in quality control testing such as assisting in sensitometric studies;

Assist in instructing dental students in x-ray techniques;

Select and categorize slides representative of various disease processes for instructional purposes;

Produce slides of x-rays;

May perform the duties of a Dental X-Ray Technician I;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience as a Dental X-Ray Technician I or equivalent

equivalent education/experience.
