BASIC FUNCTION

Coordinate projects related to environmental technical work in office, laboratory, or campus in a variety of job areas.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Senior-level class of series. Coordinate established programs; e.g., collection of hazardous chemical waste, vector control, sample collection, and routine field measurements.

TYPICAL WORK

Conduct assigned investigations involving hazardous chemicals, radiation safety, fire protection, general safety, vector control, and environmental sanitation;

Develop and draft plans and specifications for projects;

Compute data;

Operate direct service programs related to hazardous chemical disposal, radiation safety, fire protection and general safety, and environmental sanitation; assist in surveys and inspections of sources;

Examine and analyze campus environmental problems;

May direct the work of assigned personnel;

Perform duties of Environmental Control Technician II;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering, or related field and one year of experience as an Environmental Control Technician II or equivalent; OR two years of experience as an Environmental Control Technician II.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
