DEFINITION
Evaluate foreign credentials for admission to a University or College Program.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility for performing graduate admission evaluation of foreign student applicants requiring knowledge of foreign grading systems.
TYPICAL WORK
Determine level of education applicant has attained, counseling references for clarification of a wide variety of foreign degrees, certificates, licenses, etc.;
Determine accreditation of institution attended, grade point average, language proficiency and financial status of student applicant;
Interpret grades awarded on a wide variety of grading scales;
Evaluate foreign credentials and transmit evaluation and file to department for acceptance decision;
Notify student of denial or admission; in the latter case, outline further procedures related to immigration, language tests, etc.; enclose application for student visa;
Answer correspondence from applicants who have been educated in foreign countries;
Serve as a source of information regarding foreign institutions and the acceptability of their credit to the University;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma; AND three years of experience in University admissions work, or equivalent college education; OR a combination of three years of applicable education and experience.
