BASIC FUNCTION
Supervise imaging technologists, direct the technical operation and perform examinations and procedures in one or more specialty area(s) such as radiology, angiography, cardiac catheterization, computed tomography and/or magnetic resonance imaging.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.
Under general direction, monitor and report on technical operations, assist with budget planning and coordinate research and educational activities.
TYPICAL WORK
Coordinate technical operation of an imaging area(s) with medical center departments and medical community;
Establish and implement guidelines for quality assurance of diagnostic procedures and service operation; compile statistical reports;
Solve daily issues regarding equipment problems, staffing assignments, and clinician complaints;
Research and develop procedures and maintain procedure manual;
Monitor expenditure of funds, review budget reports, and provide input during budget preparation;
Maintain inventory control of equipment and supplies; authorize purchase orders;
Evaluate, test and recommend new products related to service area;
Coordinate and participate in research and education activities; provide liaison with principal investigator;
Coordinate and provide instruction to fellows, residents, and students in clinical application and techniques;
Perform the work of imaging technologists;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) AND registered or registry-eligible in an equivalent specialty area
One year of experience performing the work of an Imaging Technologist Lead in the relevant specialty service area(s)
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
