CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Perform tasks necessary to the processing of linen.
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform institution laundry processing tasks.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
First-level class of series. Under direct supervision, perform routine laundry processing tasks, such as inspecting, pressing and folding.
TYPICAL WORK
Inspect, patch, count, mark, sort, fold, bundle and tie processed laundry;
Iron and press institution clothing and linens;
Operate flat iron steam pressers and small piece folders;
Collect and prepare laundry items for processing;
Fold rough-dry items, e.g., patient gowns and isolation gowns;
Check processed laundry requests and deliver products to user areas or floor carts;
May load and operate washing machines and tumblers;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three months of experience in an institutional or commercial laundry. Completion of a training course in laundry operations may substitute for required laundry experience.
