CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Provide mental health diagnostic evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and case management services in a multi-disciplinary outpatient setting, and consultation and education to other mental health and health care professionals.
BASIC FUNCTION
Lead Mental Health Practitioners and provide prescribed treatment.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of mental health practitioners and other staff; make recommendations regarding performance evaluations.
Under general supervision, lead Mental Health Practitioners and other staff; perform clinical duties such as providing treatment, maintaining case records, participating in data collection and research, and case management functions.
TYPICAL WORK
Orient, teach, lead and evaluate professionals, students, and/or volunteers;
Perform lead co-therapist duties;
Debrief students and volunteers;
Consult with Mental Health Practitioners about clinical issues;
Perform Mental Health Practitioner duties; and
Perform related duties as required.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT(S)
Licensed by the State of Washington as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Counselor, or Mental Health Counselor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work
AND
Three years of experience as a Mental Health Practitioner or equivalent. Eligibility for recognition by the State of Washington as a clinical specialist, under the community mental health regulations, may be required. May be required to be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment and/or allied health credentialing.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
