BASIC FUNCTION

Supervise nuclear medicine technologists and other assigned staff; perform and/or develop complex clinical/diagnostic procedures; and coordinate the operation of a nuclear medicine division in a clinical setting.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations, and recommend disciplinary action.

Under general direction, develop complex clinical diagnostic procedures such as iothalamate creatinine clearance and transplant right and left ventricular ejection fraction; assist with budget planning; and coordinate staff education activities.

TYPICAL WORK

Coordinate the operation of a nuclear medicine division in a clinical setting;

Develop in vitro laboratory procedures and ensure conformance to established radiation safety standards;

Develop training programs for fellows, residents, technologists and students; demonstrate specific techniques and equipment;

Maintain quality control of division services and equipment;

Approve requests for supplies; test and recommend new products; recommend purchase or lease of equipment; maintain inventory control of equipment and supplies;

Coordinate maintenance of equipment; evaluate equipment for effectiveness;

Perform the duties of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Lead;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine

AND

Two (2) years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Lead

OR

Equivalent education/experience.

Legal Requirement

Certification as a Radiologic Technologist – Nuclear Medicine in the State of Washington.
