CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
This classification series defines occupational therapist work performed at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and UWMC Clinics. Positions in this job assess patient status, plan, administer and evaluate occupational therapy services.
BASIC FUNCTION
Provide occupational therapy services to patients using specialized skills, including assessment, treatment program planning and implementation, and related documentation.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Second-level class of the series. Under general direction, assess, plan, and implement occupational therapy services. Participate in the instruction and evaluation of students or staff, if applicable.
TYPICAL WORK
Evaluate and treat patients with a variety of physical and mental disabilities;
Administer treatment, training and physical agent modalities as determined by evaluation;
Evaluate and administer treatment for functional living skills such as self care, homemaking, range of motion, muscle testing, cognitive, visual perception, vocational and avocational skills, splinting, assistive technology, community integration and/or driver’s training;
Participate in programmatic development;
Instruct occupational therapy assistants and students in occupational therapy procedures;
Design and fabricate complex orthotics equipment;
Perform duties of Occupational Therapist 1;
May lead projects; and
Perform related duties as required.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT
Licensed by the state of Washington as an Occupational Therapist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program AND successful completion of American Occupational Therapy Association certification examination AND 12 months of professional occupational therapy experience.
OR
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification or registration.
