CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Perform the fabrication of prosthetic and orthotic devices for patients.
BASIC FUNCTION
Fabricate prosthetic and orthotic devices.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, fabricate, fit, and repair prosthetic and orthotic devices.
TYPICAL WORK
Perform fabrication techniques for prosthetic and orthotic devices including lamination procedures, finishing processes for orthoses and prostheses, prosthetic bench alignment, vacuuming forming of orthoses and prosthesis and cast preparation;
Maintain laboratory inventory and equipment; order materials and equipment as needed;
Maintain a safe and clean working environment;
Fit footwear and fit and fabricate foot orthoses following specific patient requirements;
Provide patient and family education in the use and maintenance of foot orthoses, footwear and prostheses;
Document work performed for patient billing following current billing procedures;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of an accredited Orthotics-Prosthetics Technician program
OR
equivalent education/experience.
