CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Take, produce and process photographs.
BASIC FUNCTION
Take still photographs; develop and process film.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
First-level class of series. Under general supervision, take and develop black and white and color photographs.
TYPICAL WORK
Take photographs for news, commercial, technical, instructional and/or public information use; make portraits and projection slides;
Confer with clients regarding photographic projects and provide technical advice;
Take photographs such as photos of specimens, photo micrographs and high speed photographs for scientific use;
Develop film; mix developers, fixers, and other chemical solutions; retouch and combine negative and spots prints;
Maintain work records, inventory and order supplies and equipment;
Identify, label and file negative, slides and prints;
May mix picture and sound in production of movies and television shorts;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in still photography or equivalent. Coursework in photographic techniques may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
