BASIC FUNCTION

Coordinate and administer the operation of a photographic service.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Plan, coordinate and administer the delivery of photographic production services. Provide photographic consultation service to clients; supervise photography support personnel.

TYPICAL WORK

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;

Develop and implement policies and procedures for operation of unit; develop recommendations for operating budget and price structure;

Consult with faculty, staff, and clients and determine best utilization of photographic equipment and techniques to meet their service and production needs; consult with other media personnel regarding photographic or multi-media presentations;

Assess the need for and recommend the purchase of photographic equipment; maintain equipment inventory; maintain equipment security; maintain quality control in a photographic lab;

Coordinate equipment maintenance;

May perform duties of Photographer II;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Four years of college-level training in photography, instructional media or communications; AND three years of experience in instructional media or photography or as a Photographer II, or equivalent additional qualifying experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
