CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Set up, operate, and monitor TV/video equipment and systems.

BASIC FUNCTION

Set up, operate, and monitor TV/video equipment and systems; assist in the production of TV/video programs/materials.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under direct supervision, perform a variety of basic operational tasks with TV/video equipment such as set up and operate remote control cameras and recorders and set up and adjust lights.

TYPICAL WORK

Assist technicians in the maintenance of TV/video equipment and/or assist producers in the preparation and production of TV/video materials;

Deliver, set up, and operate TV/video equipment such as cameras, receiver monitors, video record/playback machines; monitor and record classroom productions;

Follow pre-determined schedules for simple preventative maintenance on classrooms and studio TV/video equipment; perform function checks on equipment and refer to technicians as necessary; set up audio-video equipment, microphones, lighting, and staging equipment;

Check out video-tapes to students for classroom productions;

Operate microwave system to connect multiple classrooms to facilitate communication between sites;

May travel to the field in TV/video production work;

May schedule the use of TV/video equipment; maintain inventory records maintain materials library;

May direct the work of student operators;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in electronics, television operations, or production.

OR

equivalent education/experience.
