BASIC FUNCTION
Supervise personnel in the maintenance and repair of building, grounds and utility systems and in the installation of utility systems.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.
TYPICAL WORK
Plan and prioritize work projects; develop work schedules;
Read plans and blueprints to determine scope of work and materials needed; make cost estimates; submit project proposals;
Review completed projects for satisfactory compliance with design and instruction;
Enforce safety rules and regulations;
Maintain records of work performed; order supplies, equipment and tools required for projects;
Direct maintenance and repair of equipment;
May coordinate the work of Heavy Equipment Operators and other skilled trades personnel who may be assigned to a particular project;
May supervise set up for athletic events and assure site is returned to original condition;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of full-time experience as a Utility Worker II or equivalent AND one year of full-time experience as a Utility Worker Lead OR equivalent education/experience.
