The UW Medicine Payroll Analyst is a stand-alone job class.
BASIC FUNCTION
Serve as a member of the team dedicated to supporting the Kronos timekeeping system and executing complex payroll transactional functions. The UW Medicine Payroll Analyst is the first point of contact for most managers, the ISC and escalated complex questions and challenges related to Kronos.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
A UW Medicine Payroll Analyst has responsibility for executing advanced payroll transactions in the Kronos timekeeping system, including analyzing and recommending solutions to Kronos errors, analyzing end user challenges and developing solutions, reviewing and correcting errors during payroll processing and serving on the end user Kronos support team for UW Medicine. Unlike the work of UW Medicine Payroll Specialists for which there are typically standard operating procedures, standard operating procedures typically do not exist for transactions performed by the UW Medicine Payroll Analysts.
TYPICAL WORK
Provide extensive insight and direction on UW Medicine payroll transactional processes in Kronos to managers, timekeepers and employees and develop solutions for barriers;
Develop, modify and maintain the Kronos job aids and training material;
Analyze Kronos processing errors and edits and make corrections as needed;
Assign Kronos security profiles for managers, timekeepers, and employees;
Analyze union contractual changes and assist in developing new configuration to support the changes;
Test and approve new configuration in the Kronos system and participate in Kronos system upgrades;
Support development of internal controls and management reports based on state and federal tax regulations;
Identify process improvement opportunities to deliver enhanced customer services to the organization;
Support timely resolution of complex issues/inquiries and coordinate with Integrated Service Center (ISC) resources to address escalated inquiries as required; and
Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, economics, or related field
AND
Three years of experience working in a payroll-related role requiring working knowledge of key payroll transactional processes, accounting standards and taxation requirements, and also including two years of experience processing payroll transactions.
OR
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
