CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Serve as primary on-air voice for a specific show providing daily news and magazine programming on KUOW radio. This is a single-class series.
BASIC FUNCTION
Serve as primary on-air voice for a daily newsmagazine. Research, write and deliver live and recorded interviews and reports in a credible, polished and conversational manner.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under the supervision of the Director of New Content and Innovation, propose, prepare and conduct interviews, originate reports; write and produce field segments; maintain current knowledge of local, national and international news; cultivate local, regional, national, and international sources. Develop and write online posts and articles.
Work jointly with Supervising Producer and Director of New Content and Innovation on programming ideas and long-range editorial planning. Provide input and feedback on selection of guests to ensure quality of interviewees.
Participate in regular review of program performance in consultation with Director of New Content and Innovation. ;
Serve as a “first-responder” in breaking news situations that may require early morning, evening and/or weekend work.
Serve as a public representative for KUOW, making public appearances on behalf of the station as assigned and interacting with the audience via social media platforms.

Perform other occasional on-air work including hosting and on-air fundraising; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and five years professional broadcast experience or equivalent combination of education/experience, with a background in news and public affairs production management and on-air hosting, including specific position requirements relating to hosting, news writing, radio production and audio editing.
Requires knowledge of professional broadcast and journalistic standards and practices.
