Within the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), manage the intake, storage, cataloging and citation of data sourced from platforms such as health surveys, censuses, medical facility records, vital registration systems and administrative data systems, for research teams.
BASIC FUNCTION
Provide training, project management and subject matter expertise to data library team, and provide support to research teams by cataloguing and indexing health data from a variety of sources and contribute to the cataloguing of health surveys, censuses, vital statistics, and other health-related data.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, independently provide data acquisition, cataloguing and/or taxonomy subject matter expertise, lead projects for research teams in intake, acquisition, data use compliance, train on data seeking, data management, data compliance, and data cataloguing processes, practices and protocols.
TYPICAL WORK
Perform duties of a Data Library Curator I;
Apply subject matter expertise in the GHDx keyword taxonomy, including thorough investigation and communication with users about requests and compliance with internal standards and GHDx search optimization; OR
Apply subject matter expertise for the cataloging procedures of a specific GHDx data type, and provide guidance to team members; OR
Apply subject matter expertise for the acquisition and cataloging procedures of a particular data series (e.g. DHS), and provide guidance and assistance to team members and IHME researchers; OR
Apply subject matter expertise for timely publication of GHDx records in tandem with research publication schedules;
Organize and lead projects by setting goals, objectives, milestones and scope that will accomplish team goals;
Create and maintain data collection and database administration protocols;
Train other Data Services Specialists or Data Library Curators and other research teams in best data seeking practices;
May supervise student assistants; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Management, or Science data Management and four years of related experience
OR
Equivalent combination of education/experience.
