CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), provide support to assigned research team through collation, assessment and management of quantitative health data from a variety of sources. This is a single-class series.
BASIC FUNCTION
Provide training, project management for data services team and provide support to research teams, through data seeking, sourcing, and data management in order to identify, describe and organize data to meet analytical goals and processes.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, independently provide research area subject matter expertise, lead projects in data seeking, acquisition, purchases, data use agreements, and developing data seeking guidelines as well as providing support for research teams with data seeking, data quality management and data management.
TYPICAL WORK
Perform duties of an IHME Data Services Specialist I;
Apply subject matter expertise in specific areas of data seeking for the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors study including demographics (all-cause mortality, population, fertility), cause-specific mortality, nonfatal estimation, risk factors, and/or covariates and small area estimates expertise in acquiring geospatial data; OR
Apply subject matter expertise for complex data seeking requiring data use agreements or data purchases, including thorough investigation and communication with external holders of data about requests, the internal finance team, and with other internal teams about compliance with agreements; OR
Apply subject matter expertise for creating and maintaining documentation for the data seeking procedures with collaborators through the Global Engagement Team;
Organize and lead projects by setting goals, objectives, milestones and scope that will accomplish team goals;
Create and maintain data collection and database administration protocols;
Train other Data Services Specialists and other research teams in best data seeking practices;
May supervise student assistants; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a Science discipline, Library Science, Information Management or related and four years of related experience
OR
Equivalent combination of education/experience.
