CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Within the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), develop, and design publications to disseminate IHME research findings and initiatives in an accurate, attractive and accessible manner for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and the general public.

BASIC FUNCTION

Execute the graphic design, layout, and final production of visual communication projects.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under direct supervision, conceptualize, design and produce visual communications for IHME.

TYPICAL WORK

Work closely with and advise IHME staff, administrators, and executives to design and produce compelling representations of complex health data and IHME research initiatives, in various visual formats;

Design and produce materials for print, email and online communications, to include but not limited to the configuration and design of infographics, reports, social media assets, flyers, artwork and illustrations;

Employ specialty graphic design software packages, desktop publishing and related publishing tools, and typography, photography and color management principles to design and produce visual publication;

Ensure visual communications comply with IHME and University of Washington branding guidelines, while exercising creativity to produce compelling publications;

Edit and proof visual communications prior to publication, to ensure the accuracy of information held within;

Document for reference and relevant history, the decisions, approaches and techniques applied towards the production of IHME visual communications;

Disseminate design best practices and principles throughout IHME; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Arts or related and three years of print and visual graphic design experience

OR

Equivalent combination of education/experience.
