Michele Park (she/they) has worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for many years delivering patient care to all levels of premature infants. She developed the NICU webpage for the UW, which contains valuable information regarding policies, job aids, car seats, RSV, discharges and transfers, feeding pathway guidelines, thermalregulation, cEEG request process, etc.
Michele has recently taken the role of discharge coordinator. In that position she has collaborated with multiple teams to make the discharge of a premature infant go smoothly.
Tell us why you are nominating this individual
Michele developed the NICU webpage, which allows the nursing staff to have a central resource to locate information. The information includes policies, updated changes, nurses phone list, schedules, etc. Michele has restructured the role of the discharge coordinator and by collaborating with various teams it has allowed the discharge of a premature infant to be more successful. Her work has impacted our staff and our patients,
What makes this nominee worthy of the DSA?
The work Michele has contributed to the NICU promotes access and the opportunity for all to grow and learn. She has incorporated other languages for parents regarding discharge instructions and required videos. She has dedicated so much toward the NICU and the health of children in our region.
Michele has the experience as a bedside NICU nurse, web page, epic knowledge and has collaborated with various teams to assist with a successful discharge of a premature infant. Michele has the answer to any question that I or any of my colleagues might have or she will know who to refer us to.
Her efforts make things smoother for our staff and patients.
