UW scholarships available to employees and their families
For many staff, working for the University is just one way they connect to UW. Many are also proud alumni, generous donors and avid Husky fans. Others choose UW Medicine for their care, attend UW Arts events or plan family outings at The Burke, The Henry or the UW Arboretum.
An appreciation for the role of education in society and lifelong learning connect us to each other and the UW. It is in this spirit, that we invite staff to consider supporting one of the two scholarship funds available to staff or their family members attending UW. Contributions can be of any amount and given one time or over a period of time. The number of scholarships available will increase as the amount of contributions to the fund increases.
Information on how to apply for these scholarship funds endowed by or in honor of former UW employees is also provided below.
The Service Employees Opportunity Scholarship
The Service Employees Opportunity Scholarship recognizes the contributions of service employees to the well-being of the University of Washington. It offers UW scholarships to service employees and their family members.
If you are a food service, laundry, or custodial employee with at least five years of service to any UW location, you or a member of your family can apply for this scholarship for use at all UW campuses. The application deadline is May 31, 2024.
The Elizabeth Coveney Endowed Scholarship
The Elizabeth Coveney Endowed Scholarship offsets the cost of education for undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need who are children of current UW employees and/or are current UW employees. This endowment was established to honor Elizabeth Coveney, who played a critical role in UW Human Resources over her 38 years of service.
