University of Washington Executive Order 31, collective bargaining agreement nondiscrimination articles, and other policies are in place to support an inclusive and equitable work environment for all employees.
Policies
UW Executive Order 31
In order to promote an environment that fosters respect for all members of the University community, UW Executive Order 31 – Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action prohibits discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. All employees have responsibilities under EO 31.
Title IX
The University of Washington prohibits sex discrimination and sex-based harassment in any education program or activity that it operates. Individuals may report concerns, make complaints, or direct inquiries to the Title IX Coordinator. The notice of nondiscrimination is located at: uw.edu/titleix/title-ix-notice/.
Collective bargaining agreements
UW’s collective bargaining agreements build on EO 31 and include other nondiscrimination language collectively bargained with the unions.
Nondiscrimination posting requirements
As a federal contractor, the UW is required to post the “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal” notice and other posters to inform applicants and employees of the contractor’s nondiscrimination and equal opportunity obligations. Information about required posting places and links to posters themselves are available on the workplace posters webpage.
Report a concern
Employees with concerns about behavior that may violate UW policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment can find reporting options and other resources on our complaint resolution webpage.
Contribute to the University’s understanding of the diverse experiences of our faculty, staff, and students by reporting incidents of bias through the University’s bias reporting tool. Reports can be submitted anonymously. Data from submitted reports helps to inform future educational and prevention efforts.
