UW Proposes Pay Range Expansions for Skilled Trades: September 14, 2016
In response to recruitment and retention challenges with numerous skilled trades positions, leadership from across UW collaborated on strategic solutions to bring to the collective bargaining process.
As a result, UW is proposing to elongate pay ranges to include steps A-M, including two new Career Enhancement Growth Program (CEGP) steps, for skilled trades employees in both unions in order to provide for greater wage growth.
As proposed, employees would be placed at a step equal to their current pay level on pay ranges that have been restructured with an increased maximum step value and substantially more room for movement. This proposal would affect nearly 500 current skilled trades employees in both SEIU 925 and WFSE bargaining units, and would increase the values at the top of these ranges by as much as 16 percent.
